St. Mary Magdalene Church :: Crkva sv. Marije Magdalene

"One of the richest sacral buildings of central type in Croatia is Mary Magdalene church in village Sela near Sisak. Such building in these parts can be explained only by influence of Viennese circle of architects." - Đ. Cvitanović

Bed stone for the new church was laid in 1759, and construction was complete in 1765. Church was built by Italian artisans helped by locals and serfs of Captol. Building material is mainly reused Roman bricks from old Siscia. Together with accompanying residential house, church in Sela is unique baroque phenomenon in our cultural heritage.

This model was complex for it's ellipsoid dome and intricate tops of the steeples, as well as rich ornaments all over the building. Due to GE guidelines many details are simplified and displayed only using textures. Additional problem were canopies close to church. It was hard to make picture of entire facade, so I used panorama stitcher (free Microsoft ICE) to make one complete image of facade and corrected it's perspective. I used follow-me tool for the dome and tower tops. To establish correct heights, I lifted the base from the map layer and used photo match to get heights relative to widths of the objects.

Kamen temeljac za novu crkvu postavljen je 1759. godine, a završena je 1765. godine.  Crkvu su gradili talijanski majstori graditelji uz pomoć domaćeg stanovništva te kaptolskih kmetova od razvalina stare Siscije. Zajedno s kurijom, crkva u Selima je jedinstveni barokni fenomen u našoj kulturnoj baštini.

Ovaj model je bio složen zbog kupole elipsaste baze, složenih lukovica na tornjevima, i bogatih ornamenata na pročelju i zvonicima. Prema smjernicama za GE 3d layer, puno detalja je pojednostavljeno i prikazano teksturama. Dodatni problem su  bile krošnje drveća uz crkvu, zbog čega je bilo teško slikati cijelo pročelje sa zvonicima, riješenje je bilo snimiti panoramu i onda ju ispraviti u perspektivi. Koristio sam follow-me alat za lukovice i kupolu, za uspostavljanje proporcija koristio sam bazu podignutu iz tlocrta preko koje sam napravio projekciju fotografije kako bih dobio visine relativno prema širinama.

 

Animation of Sisak Fortress :: Animacija Starog Grada

Since I built 3d model in Sketchup, I decided to use free rendering program Kerkythera to produce slightly more realistic animation. This is just a basic model, It would be interesting to make an animation with surrounding buildings and shrubbery.

Otkako sam napravio model u Sketchup-u, odlučio sam sa besplatnim rendering programom Kerkythera napraviti malo realističnije animacije. Ovo je osnovni model bez okoliša, bilo bi zanimljivo napraviti animaciju sa vegetacijom i okolnim objektima.

GE vs, RL II

It's quite cool to see such comparison shots between RL and GE. Still no Streetview  for my hometown (although Streetcar visited us 10 months ago) so I'll keep on doing it by hand for now. Goes to show you can really experience a city in GE with 3d models layer on. And by the way, all the models in the picture are mine...

Sisak Fort :: Stari Grad Sisak

Old fort Sisak - The 16th century triangular fortress of the Old Town, well-preserved and turned into the Native Museum, is the main destination of every tourist. The fortress is famous for the victory of the joint forces of Croats and Carniolans (Slovenes) over the Turks in 1593, known as the Battle of Sisak. It was one of the early significant defeats of the up-to-then invincible Turkish army on European territory. Stari grad Sisak - Trostrana utvrda iz 16. stoljeća, odlično sačuvana i pretvorena u muzej, glavno je odredište posjetitelja Siska. Slavna je zbog Bitke kod Siska 1593. gdje su združene snage hrvata i slovenaca, ostvarile prvu značajna pobjedu nad dotada nepobjedivim turcima. GE vs. RL

I'm starting with comparison shots between GE and RL, consisting mostly of my models. As the collection grows I stared noticing that many of my hometown familiar views can be recreated in GE. Enjoy the first image, a town centre.

Old Roadhouse :: Stara Gostionica

My most recent model of an old restaurant in Sisak centre. This old building is one of my hometown landmarks.  Although it was build in early 19 ct. it lost many baroque features due to many renovations, but the recent one restored some of the baroque elements. It's a very valuable addition to Sisak cultural and architectural history.

Moj najnoviji model je stara gostionica u centru Siska. Ova stara zgrada je jedan od prepoznatljivih simbola siska. Iako je sagrađena u ranom 19. stoljeću, izgubila je barokni izgled u čestim renovacijama iako ju je zadnja obnova donekle vratila baroknom izvoru. Ovo je zgrada vrijedan kulturni i arhitektonski doprinos gradu Sisku.

Victorville

Since my name is Viktor i decied to start a collection of models from Victorville, California. I make them using mostly Streetview and Google maps. So far so good. Hope Victorvillagers (Victorers? Victorvillans? Victorvillers) like them. I take suggestions.

Biskupija :: Diocese

Zgrada sisačke biskupije je jedan od najnovijih modela koji mi je odobren na Google Earth-u. Zbog ograničenja koje odnedavno postavljaju administratori nije moguće napraviti cijeli kompleks zgrada odjednom pa ću morati naknadno dodati još jednu zgradu biskupije. Pri izradi sam pazio na jednostavnost, li i da istaknem detalje koji su prepoznatljivi. Kao posljednji detalj napravit ću komplet modela s drvećem koje okružuje crkvu i zgrade biskupije

Sisak Diocese building is one of the most recent model that was approved for  Google Earth 3d layer. Due to restrictions recently placed by administrators it is not possible to make the entire complex of buildings as one entry, and I have to subsequently add another buildings of the diocese. In making of this model I strived for simplicity, and also  to point out details that are recognizable. The last thing I plan for this set is a set of models of trees surrounding the church and diocese buildings

Dizalica Granik :: Granik Crane

Još jedan model iz industrijskih i lučkih vremena grada Siska. Ovo je model dizalice na originalnom mjestu kao podsjetnik da je nekada luka za utovar i istovar brodova bila u samom središtu grada. Danas je na tom mjestu park sa šetnicom.

Another model from industrial times of Sisak. This is a model of a preserved crane at the original site as a reminder that at one time harbour for loading and unloading goods was in the very center of the city. Today this is park.

   

Željeznički most :: Railroad bridge

Najzad i željeznički most preko Kupe kod sisačke rafinerije i groblja. ovaj model sam dugo želio napraviti i imam dosta slika mosta. Osnovnu strukturu sam podigao sa terena preuzetog s Google Maps karte, poradio na  prilazima, zatim oblikovao temelje mosta i na kraju sami most. Potporna mreža je napravljena od prozirnih tekstura napravljenih prema fotografijama, kao i baza mosta - pješačke staze i sama pruga. Teksture temelja su naravno prave, snimljene tijekom ljeta kad sam radio panorame mosta. Dobar pokazatelj preciznosti je to da se struktura bočnih strana savršeno poklopila s vanjskim konturama mosta po broju spojeva. Ovo mi je sada jedan od najdražih modela. Posebnu pažnju sam posvetio tunelu za pješake koji vodi prema Starom gradu.

Finally the railroad bridge over the Kupa at Sisak refinery and cemetary This model I have long wanted to do and I have plenty of pictures of the bridge. I have built the basic structure  from the ground taken from Google Maps and elevated, than i shaped terrain, foundations and the bridge itself. The support structure is made ​​of transparent textures created from photos, as well as the base of the bridge, walkways and tracks itself. The textures are based on the photos taken during the summer when I shot panorama of the bridge. A good indicator of accuracy is that the structure of the sides perfectly coincides with the outer contours of the bridge in the number of compounds. This to me is now one of my favorite models. I have devoted special attention to the pedestrian tunnel leading to the Old Town.

 

Arhiva Sisak :: Sisak Archive

Zgrada Državnog arhiva u Sisku (http://www.dask.hr/). Dograđena originalna zgrada s modernim dodacima. Poprilično komplicirana, ali ju je bilo jako zanimljivo raditi. Prošlo je oko godinu dana od snimanja zgrade do izrade modela. Raslinje u dvorištu i oko zgrade sam morao izdvojiti u drugi model prema novim smjernicama Google Earth admina.

National Archive building Sisak.  (http://www.dask.hr/). Original building expanded with modern addition. It was rather complicated, but interesting to make. It's been well over a year between taking the pictures and making the model. Shrubbery in the yard and in front of the entrance had to be divided into a different model due to recent regulations by Google Earth admins.
